For the fun fair, I am in charge of bringing 2 dozen cupcakes for the food booth (something that all board members were asked to bring) and those are all ready and sitting in the fridge.  I was also asked, along with the other members, to bring a Jazzy Jar. 

This is the first time I have ever heard the term Jazzy Jar and I thought it was going to be something that was hard to do.  I wasn’t pleasantly surprised when I learned that it wasn’t.  Basically, all you do is find a jar, fill it with an item that kids enjoy; small cars, balls, hair accessories, candy, etc, and then you decorate the lid (or not).  Simple and fast.  I did a Jazzy Jar for girls filled with jewellery, hair accessories and lip balm.  I really had to stuff the glass jar, which has three apples painted on it, and I could barely close it.  Jazzy Jars are a great idea for a gift but I will put them up later under the craft projects or possibly under Christmas Gifts and Crafts when we get to that season. 

We are using the Jazzy Jars for fundraising and the kids can buy 10 tickets for a dollar and place their raffle tickets in the Jazzy Jars of their choice.  At the end of the night, the winning ticket for each Jazzy Jar is drawn and the winner gets to take his or hers home.

The last thing that I need to bring is the Rubber Chicken Catapult or as I have dubbed them, The Great Chicken Flinger.  I was going to make something pretty basic with a pie plate and dowel rod but my husband stepped up and made two sturdy chicken catapults.  They are a lot of fun and if you have any type of fun fair or even a kid’s birthday party, these little catapults will have children laughing and wanting to send the chicken’s flying. 

I should mention that I painted the chicken flingers, except for the bulls-eye.  My husband failed to tell me that he wanted to use a paint that wasn’t latex before I volunteered to paint it (said it would seal it).  Anyway, Murphy’s Law has decreed that if I go within 100 feet of wet paint, it will magically transport itself the distance to coat some part of me (face, hands, arms, clothes).  So you can imagine how colorful I was by the time I was finished.  I looked like I was getting ready to audition for the Blue Man troop or I was going as a smurf for Halloween.  I can still find it, 5 days after I painted the things.  I also put on the pictures of the flying chickens but the main credit does go to my husband on this one.

Next week I will post to let you know how they went and if I can corner my husband I will fling rubber chicken’s at him until he tells me the measurements for making The Great Chicken Flinger and post those as well.  Let me know if you would like a how-to and if I don’t hear anything, I will probably post it anyways.
