It is simply the time in life when a great deal of development takes place and you can cover a large number of topics about it.

This is not to say that any of the other developmental stages of a child’s life do not deserve ample attention and today’s post I will be looking at fetal development and not at those first 5 or 6 years.

As everyone knows, the first 5 weeks are one of the most important stages in neonatal development. For this reason, many doctors recommend that any woman in child-rearing age should take a neonatal vitamin regardless of whether they are expecting or not. This is also one of the reasons that it is recommended that woman pursue a healthy lifestyle before they plan on having children; the other reasons for this is…well…so you have a healthy life.

With fetal development, the first 5 weeks are crucial but I will briefly look at your growing baby and what areas are experiencing critical growth and during which period of the 5 weeks. During this time, anything that you drink or are in contact with can affect the development of you child and it is very important to alert your doctor if you have any concerns regarding either activities that you have partaken in or chemicals that you may have been exposed to.

The Heart: The key period for the development of the fetal heart is between 4 to 7 weeks after conception. It is obvious that the first 5 weeks rule does not necessarily relate to everything.

The Kidneys: Kidneys have a key developmental period between 5 to 8 weeks after conception.

Face and Eyes: The development of your baby’s face and eyes are in the critical stages during early pregnancy between 28 to 48 days after conception.

Hands and Arms: Those little fingers are growing and developing between 32 to 56 days after conception.

Stomach: The stomach has its key period between the weeks of 4 to 7 weeks after conception.

The Brain: And finally the brain, which has a critical period of development between 28 and 56 days.
